1st Scholes Mrs J, Odavine My Boy, p/s, solid dog of good shape, lovely head parallels, well laid  shoulder placement, level top line held on move, correct tail set carried well, with good angulation. Good harsh coat, moved well. RBD.

2nd Sutherland Ms D, Uiredas Lemon & Lime, 6year old p/s flat creaseless head, Ear set tad low, slightly unsettled when going over, would have liked a bit more substance & depth to chest, correct top line and nice tailset, moved  slightly close in rear today.

1st Boulton &Van Oosten Mr & Ms P & P, Boujan Just Amazing, not surprised to see son of BVIB as has all the qualities, p/s, substantial but not overdone example of true schnauzer type, flat  skull,  good stop and length muzzle, nice cheeks and dark eye, neat Ear set, Neck of good length into well placed shoulder, depth of chest to elbow , good front angulation, strong throughout, solid top line slightly sloping held on the move, into correct tailset, enough muscle to rear & moved around the ring with drive, showed himself today, but Excellently handled & presented in top condition to gain BD, BOB & BIS.

2nd Railton Mrs B, Ch Odivane Master Class with Lefenix, p/s another good example, solid dog, of correct type, lovely head,  dark eye, surprised nearly 7 years old , good depth chest with good tuck up, neat feet,projected a nice compact almost square outline ,  good harsh coat,  enough rear angulation, moved well, excellently presented & handled.

1st Gill Ms N , Wallensis of the Outlaws, White , Good sized, keen expression and alert, broader in skull, neat ears falling forward, depth chest to elbow, overall a good shape, Sound in movement.

2nd Podlasiak & Richardson Ms & Mr K & J, Mel Hollybeat (imp Pol) alert, black, lovely dark eye ,  neat earset, good length neck,  shorter  in front leg, smaller of size, Compact, handler had difficulty to move him due to injury so movement was difficult to assess today.

Limit dog 

1st Partner K & E, Soletrader Mad Max at Onfleek, sturdily built  typey male, of good outline, good head with neat ears correctly set, enough length neck into well laid flat shoulder, good top line and tail set, good front and rear angulation with well muscled thighs, handled and presented well in the line up, moved really well in class but then took a dislike to the floor surface when in the ring for BIS. Not the only dog to do this today. BD, BOB

1. CH DASERBE CHASE THE ACE TO DRAXPARK. Quality bitch who is looking good for her age. Presented in super coat and condition. Pleasing skull moderately broad between the ears. Good reach of neck with enough fore chest. Good depth. Best Veteran.

BABY PUPPY DOG

1. PHILOMA SIMON TEMPLAR AT BARNSDALE. Most gorgeous baby. Male only 4 months of age. Well, balanced of excellent proportions. Height and length of body is equal proportions. Stood four squares. Never put a foot wrong. Should have a bright future.

2. DRAXPARK FACE THE CHASER. More substantial male than the winner. This puppy excels in coat texture. He has a quality head and expression. Good reach of neck. Just needs to steady on movement and strengthen in the hindquarters.

PUPPY DOG

1. SIR CONSTANTINE DE BARBA NEGRA AT PHILOMA (IMP). Stood alone in this class, however, he has enough quality and breed type to compete in any strong class. Head well balanced and clean. Dark eye with bushy eyebrows. Clean neck with a firm and straight back. Moved with strength in hindquarters. I expect will firm up in his front quarters in time. Best Puppy, Res Best Male.

POST GRADUATE DOG

1. SNAKESBURY FLETCHER. Substantial male with good bone and substance. Dark eye and pigmentation. Coat harsh and wiry. Just needs more training and presentation.

OPEN DOG

1. CH PHILOMA ONE NIGHT STAND. The star of the show. And what a day for the owners, winning BIS, and BIS at the CH show on the same day. This male has plenty of attitude in the ring. Beautiful head in proportion to his body. Neck clean and firm fitting well into a firm topline. Moves with vigour, strength, and soundness. Expertly presented and handled.

BABY PUPPY BITCH

1. PHILOMA ENCANTO. Real baby showing loads of promise. Sweet head and expression. Good neck and angulations. Moved steady with enough strength for her age.

2. DRAXPARK CELEBRITY CHASE. Highly active young bitch who I am sure will come into her own. Preferred the coat texture on this puppy. Very pleasing head and expression. Just needs firm up and settle on the move.

PUPPY BITCH

1. DRAXPARK CROWN JEWEL. Impressive young bitch. Quality head. Dark eye and lovely pigment. Neck moderate and clean, fitting well into a good lay of shoulder. Liked her angulations giving a lovely shape and balance. Super coat type.

2. RIESENHEIM OVER THE MOON FOR RUFFHAUS. Very pleasing in type. She has good substance and size. Feminine head in proportion with her body. Lovely harsh coat. Just not showing herself off and needs to steady on movement.

3. DRAXPARK CROWNING GLORY.

1. CH PHILOMA AMERICAN IN PARIS. Two quality bitches in this class. The winner is feminine and stylish. Presented and handled to perfection. Lovely head. Well developed cheeks with moderate stop. Neck clean fitting well into her shoulders and well develop fore chest. Liked her profile and balance. Moved with purpose. Best Bitch.

2. PHILOMA LUCIA. This bitch caught my attention as she entered the ring. I liked her size and powerful appearance. Gorgeous head. Skull broad and flat. Bushy eyebrows and chin whiskers giving the desired expression. Nicely constructed. Moved with drive and purpose. Just preferred the fore chest on 1. Res Best Bitch.

Thank you to the NSC for inviting me to judge Schnauzers, Miniature Schnauzers and Best In Show at their February show. A huge thanks to the competitors for the excellent entry and for staying for the final line ups on a long cold day. It was the clubs first Open show running alongside the Champ show and they did a great job of keeping everything flowing. Thanks to my stewards for keeping the ring going and all their hard work all day. In Miniature schnauzers in general there were some variations in coat and a couple of dentitions could have been better but overall they were of a good standard and seemed in good shape. Overall in both sizes some movement could improve although the floor today seemed to unsettle a few dogs, with one withdrawing possibly the reason some movement wasn’t as I had hoped for. Also I noted size was at times at the top point.

I was pleased with my overall results and my final line ups had some super qualities with the BIS exhibits being super examples of the breed. I thought the puppies coming through were of excellent quality and nice to see the baby puppies for the first time in the ring too. Thank you to you all who helped make this show a success.

I was very honoured to be asked to judge Best in Show at the NSC and would like to thank the committee. What a super line up to be presented with, any one of these dogs could have taken BIS, but for me today the schnauzer was in tip top condition and he showed himself off around the ring to gain the top award.

Cullen Mr & Mrs K & S, Sir Constantine De Barba Negra at Philoma, it was a pleasure to go over this quality 7 months male puppy, with a super outline, almost square and with good bone, lovely head of good length with correct level planes, good reach of neck into well placed shoulders, chest there and good rib, firm level topline, strong rear with good angulation and straight hocks, planted his feet well, moved with purpose and drive, I look forward to watching his promising future.
